2011 Mothers’ Day - May 8th - Sunday, Journal

The Mothers’ Day has always been on Sunday, so Hiroko went to church worshipping the Lord God and having V.B.S. meeting in the morning. Hiroko came home at 11:00 A.M. then, Elsa waited for Hiroko, and said she would be taking Hiroko to celebrate Mothers’ Day with lunch. Hiroko has been thinking to have lunch at the different countries’ restaurants, such as Thai, Mexico and crepe cooking. Elsa chose this crepe cooking restaurant.

This is the front entrance of the restaurant taken by cel phone camera. It is so hard to focus with cel phone camera that the first photo has no head of the entrance, so Hiroko took another photo which came out only head. Two photos make whole entrance. The name of the restaurant is “Icosium Kafe.” The name us taken from the old name of the capital city of Algeria located between Egypt and Morocco. The new capital’s name is Alger. The restaurant’s web address is www.icosiumkafechicago.com, The foods of restaurant is cooked Icosium way and wrapped with the French style crepe.

Inside of the restaurant:

Many decorations hanging all over the walls make us feel like in the foreign country.

The dishes ordered the day:

Starting to cut the foods, then Hiroko realized she has not takeb the photos, yet. The cut foods were mended for taking the photos. It was a regret that the crepe couldn’t mend completely well.
The Left side dish is called the “Crepe de Roma” made with sautéed tomatoes, basil, porto bello mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, spinach wrapped in crepe.
The right side dish was called “Greek Crepe” ordered by Elsa and completely cut and opened crepe. Regret! Inside crepe are sautéed feta cheese, cured olives, tomatoes, almonds, spinach, cilantro, and garlic. She added the meat, merguez (Algerian lamb sausage.)
The crepe and inside sautéed foods were very tasty and seasoned very well. Many additional meats, even Escargots are listed on the menu. The menu of the restaurant is listed in their web-site.

Now dessert time:

Hiroko ordered simple herb tea. The tea came with these beautiful glass cup and pot. It is sad to see this photos. Do you think Hiroko should attend the school to learn how to take the photos?
There are many different kinds of the country’s drinks in the menu. Elsa ordered the country’s special drink. Hiroko took the photo of Elsa’s special drink, but Elsa’s head was cut in the photo. So the photo could not be posted.

Cel phone camera takes very sharpe photo without setting the flash on or off, outside mode or inside and many other modes, so Hiroko likes to use it. However, Hiroko should be using regular camera at the coming Saturday’s another Mothers’ Day celebration dinner.

The dessert crepe:

“Crepe Aziz”- Fresh Strawberries, Kiwis and Nutella are wrapped with the crepe, and decorated with heavy cream and Nutella. Hiroko heard that the Nutella is made with macadamia nuts, therefore, it is good for those who have allergy from chocolate or peanut butter. The Nutella tasted like chocolate.

It was very, very delicious lunch. Thanks Elsa! Gochiso-sama!
